I have a 500GB G-RAID that does not mount. Can I pull out the drives and install them into another hardware RAID 0 enclosure or is the RAID map stored in the hardware itself?
That's a generic raid setup, so it should *work* in any setup. You may want to see if there's a problem with the Volume by using diskutility app and seeing if the members are online by putting this into the terminal: 'diskutil listraid' (without quotes).
The problem is it won't mount at all. I can hear the drives spin up and they sound healthy. I need to recover the data stored on the RAID, which is why I hope the RAID map is saved on a drive and not in the hardware controller.
If I get a new controller and hook up the drives, will the data show up or would I need to initialize and start fresh?
