iPod touch G1 wallpaper and wifi problems :(

Hey I have a generation 1 iPod Touch. Its on 2.2.1 now and for some reason I cant set any of my saved pictures as my wallpaper. I click the button and size the photo but when I lock it, the world photo that the iPod starts with shows. Also sometimes my iPod will say I am connected to the internet with full wi-fi but when i try to connect to anything using wi-fi it doesn't work
If it helps any i had my ipod hacked while on 1.1.4
