Hi

After about 7 years I have decided to drag my G3 iMac from the loft and get playing with again, but I'm hitting an OS9 install problem:

I have chosen the 'erase with extended' install option.

I have the original disks, the HDD is healthy and the install from boot sets off fine and even seems to try building some icons on the desktop, but then it stops with:

Some applications could not be quit. With 'Finder -1712' at the bottom.

Any guidance gratefully received, it's not an error I can find in the forums or the wider net.

Update

Have initialized the HDD and can copy files from the CD onto it no problem. Have also tried all 3 install options but I get the same error.

It went further...

Not sure on HDD to be honest. I cleaned the install CD and it has got further this time - about 50% of the way through the install and that it halts with the message:

'Restoring the software configuration "IMacHD.img to volume Macintosh HD" failed'

Nothing shows up on Disk First Aid.

Many thanks

Thanks!

Thanks for your help all - I'm sure I still have some drives around the house which might fit. Time to go hunting!
