Hello everyone!
I received a G3 for my daughter, which I got up and running under Jaguar just fine (10.2.9). It's the 450Mhz model. I then got my hands on some RAM (512Mb) and installed it; then I figured I could try to install Tiger on the machine.
During the installation process (I can't say at what point, I started it and left the machine do it's thing) the computer froze. I forced it to shut down by pressing on the power button for a few seconds. Now when I try to turn the computer on it makes strange noises. It gets to the Apple logo on the gray screen, then I get the Forbidden sign. I tried zapping the PRAM (Ctrl Opt P R) and I also tried to force the Mac to boot from the Tiger install CD (by pressing the C key on startup), which by the way seems to work for 30 seconds as I hear the CD whirring away, but then the computer just goes back to the forbidden sign.
Just to be clear, I am using the 4-CD version of Tiger installer, as the Mac wouldn't read the DVD version.
Any suggestions are welcome - thanks in advance!
