Hello all,

This is my first time posting here. And I wanted to know if anybody knows how to solve my problem. I have a Quicksilver G4 800 and anytime I unplug my external speakers or if I plug in a pair of headphones I get all sorts of noise. When there is nothing plugged in, the internal speaker makes a crackling and popping noise. If I plug a pair of headphones into the back I get a loud buzzing/humming noise. If anybody has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!

Check the connection status of the sound card. Unplug it wipe the connection bar with isopropyl alcohol and re-mount the card.

This is just a stab, but from what you describe it sounds like a grounding issue. I recall another forum talking about noise from iPod headphones and reference was also made to the actual cables being frayed or not properly soldered. It could also be something on the soundcard not properly put together. But from my past experience with audio it sounds like a ground issue.

I'm sure someone else out there will have a better fix for you.
