I have a Power Mac G4 DA with a newly installed Radeon 9600 with taped pins. Card works fine and the UI in tiger is much smoother but it won't wake from sleep. The machine sleeps and wakes just fine with the original Rage128 card.

Apparently the firmware is up to date (4.28).

Before I start messing around, is there something I need to configure? Other things I've read say the card with taped pins should really just be plug and play.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried installing the ATI Drivers?

I don't have a link, but there's a download out there for them which also installs a System Preference. Might help, IDK.

Welp, bad news. No effect.

Actually now the machine will not boot reliably with the radeon card - I have to wiggle the card around and reseat it to get it to boot successfully. Works great with the Rage128. I think my pin taping job wasn't so great. I will try a second layer of Kapton tape on the pins and report back.

Yeah, taping pins is a bitch. Some people are skilled at it, but I was never very good.

If you don't plan on using those pins, why not scraping those off?
