I bought a powermac G4 (dual800) off ebay a few months back and it came and everything worked perfectly, except the dialup modem. A few of you are probably already saying, get cable or whatever. Well, I live pretty far off into the woods and it's just something I can get, no way around it. So my only option for the past few months is to continue using my windows box for internet and my G4 for video editing only. Well, I need the room and the windows box has got to go, so how do I get my G4 to see my modem. I know there is one in there. There was a serial port in place of it, so I unscrewed that and now there is a telephone jack. The wire leads under some boards in there and that's as far as I can see. I'm not super savy when it comes to the inside of a computer, so pardon for missing something easy.

Bottom line, how can I get my apple online and the windows box in the closet? I've tried all the setting up or whatever in OSX and it never recognizes it, like I don't even have it in the computer. Do I need to update some drivers or do something like that? Should I just stop bothering with it and start looking for a cheap USB modem on ebay?(not sure if the serial port works or not).

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, just getting sick of two computers on my desk and really want to start using the computer I worked so hard to get!

edit:
I was just looking inside the computer and I noticed there was no modem(guess I said that previously). But I think were the modem goes is where the serial port is sitting. So I geuss the person who owned this before me(who is unresponsive since the computer was sent) could have taken the modem out and put the serial port in....

PS I guess I'm down to two options. Where do I get a cheap internal modem for this computer or should I just get one of those global village external jobs? I'd really like to keep the cables down to a minimum, so getting an internal modem wouldn't be too much of a hassle...
