Can you provide some more details?

What exactly isn't working?

How's the iMac connected to the ethernet/Internet (hub/switch/router)?

What are the settings in the network preference pane?

With ethernet cable connected, ethernet does not show on NETWORK listing.
With Airport selected, several unlocked networks show up, but none will open.
With my WiFi network selected and password entered, it fails to recognize.

All other devices in house working fine on ethernet and WiFi.

Network preferences pane setup the same as other devices.

I'm perplexed, to say the least.

Do you mean Ethernet shows as not connected? If so, make sure DHCP is turned on. Also, check the Advanced settings to make sure they are set to Automatically (under the Hardware tab). You are also going to want to enter DNS entries. Usually that's your router address. Or you can use Google's which are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Airport cannot use anything higher than WPA with TKIP encryption. If your Mac uses an Airport Extreme card you can use WPA2, but again only with TKIP encryption. You cannot connect to anything using higher security. Both cards cannot use a 5Ghz channel.
