I have a 'Mirror Door' G4 Power Mac, with a faulty power supply. I have just purchased a G5 Power Mac with a 60GB Hard Drive. Can I install the HD from the G4 into the G5 , so giving me 2 x Hard Drives? bryanall

Hi Blue Revolution, Many thanks for the quick response. Looks like I'll have to spend some money. With thanks and regards, bryanall

To be exact, you can. But you need to connect it instead of superdrive or like this

G4/G5 hard Drives

Hi 666sheep,
Many thanks for the info' and link. Looks a bit complicated so I'll check prices of SATA Drives first. After reading a few feedbacks it appears a 250GB second HD is about the optimum size. Regards, bryanall

Yeah, described methods are for desperates and/or people who don't have external HDD enclosure and want to transfer their data from old IDE drive to G5 ;)

G4/G5 Drives

Hi Blue Revolution,
$100 for for a 1 + Terabyte Drive sounds good. Is that an internal drive? Any particular brand? Only ones I could find on Ebay were external. There was a La Cie External but more expensive. Regards, bryanall

Personally, I would not purchase a HDD from eBay.

Plenty of places like TigerDirect or NewEgg where you can get a new 1TB HDD for a reasonable price.
