Hey everyone. I have a G4 450 with two drives (well I did!) until yesterday. At some point I was looking a family pics and my trackball mouse feel off the desk onto the floor. Seemed as though this started everyone though I do not know how. I think it was coincidental. Well my mouse cursor starting acting strange. I kept having to plug and unplug my mouse in order to get the cursor to move but it tracked very slowly. It also took a very strong push on my mouse button the open a folder or launch an app. I have two drives, cloned to each other using Carbon Copy Cloner which I have used for a long time. The second drive mounted on startup a couple of times and then other reboots it would not show up or take longer than normal to show up on the desktop. This morning I awoke to the second drive clicking. I rebooted a couple of times and initially the first drive hung on the grey screen. I disconnected the second drive and rebooted and ultimately the computer booted to the first drive and that is what I am working on now. Other strange goings on are that when I try to boot off my my 10.4xx install disk the drive keeps kicking it out. It will not mount, will not boot. When I hold the option key down to go into manual mode to change the startup disk, the disks show up but the cursor hourglass keeps spinning and I cannot change it from there. I reset open firmware and pram which seemed yesterday to make the mouse easier to use? I have a external hard drive which I am going to back up the drive that I am now on to and pray that I can boot off it. It almost seems that I have a combination of a failed drive, and perhaps a corrupted preference of some time. Any thoughts, suggestions etc. would help immensely. Thank you.
