Greetings my enlightened Mac friends,

Well, today I have a dilly of a pickle to sort out. My iBook loses power/shuts down without warning. It takes a couple of attempts to get it working again. If there is anything constant about it, these power failures will often occur just as I attempt to log in.

At first, I thought the display might be cracking up, but the whole computer shuts down. And it makes no difference whether the power adapter is plugged in or not. Could it be evil RAM? That's the only thing that I can think of at the moment which might be plausible. I think I am doomed.

What do you aficionados think? After all, you are the wise of the wise.

Thanks for indulging me,

Matt and the cat

Thanks for your help, MJ. After doing what you suggested, it did seem the RAM was evil, so I removed it, and it's working well. Thanks so much for your help and advice...I am no longer doomed!

Take care,

Matt and the cat
