I have an imac G4 20" that I recently replaced the power supply in. All seemed well (the fan worked, the machine started up ok and ran for 8 hours no problem) - until this morning. My son was playing a game (flash) and then the system crashed (looked like the UNIX or DOS prompt black lines bleeding through the desktop image with crash messages I don't understand completely - something about bad kernel?). Upon looking at the machine the base seemed warm. I held the power button until it shut of and waited about 15 minutes. When I tried powering it on again - the chime sounded, but the fan didn't work nor did the display turn on. I unplugged it for now hoping to find someone to look at it and possibly fix it this time.

Could the logic board be toast or do I need to replace the power supply yet again? I can find the parts but nothing is new everything is used - so any help in referring me to reputable parts dealers would be appreciated. I love my imac and hate that it's limping along like this. Sigh. I guess everything dies after a while...

Oh yeah - BTW DO NOT TAKE YOUR APPLE TO FRY's. They will charge you $70 to tell you that it has the problem you told them about and then tell you that they cannot repair it. The entire experience was annoying. They could have spared me the trip and expense by just stating they only repair Macs that are under 3 years old. What a bunch of weenies.
