Okay so I was installing a Sytem Update and I had to reboot. I got a black screen with white text telling me a bunch of stuff that makes no sense to me.
I'm assuming this is the result of a kernal panic? No idea.

Anyways, it essentially gives me three options:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw/
sh /etc/rc

I don't know where my reply went... but I'll say it again... (?)

When I try the /sbin/fsck -fy it says my harddrive check out.

Edit: When i do the /sh /etc/rc I get to the blue startup screen but thats it.

Then after FSCK, put in Mac OS X DVD, restart and press c. Click Disc Utility and press Repair Disc and then restart. Also reset the PRAM.

Why? It does _exactly_ the same thing.f

There is always a possibility that one thing could make a big difference.
For example: I was playing Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion and I had an army of pikemen and I lost every time against my opponent (in Map Editor) but when I added a camel soldier (just one), I beat my oppenent every time and they lost every time after that.

How does AoE2 relate to a kernel panic?

I don't think I've ever read the forums and literally said "WTF?" out loud at the screen after reading a post.

To OP: If you have another Mac with FireWire around, you should try a Target Disk mode startup on the other one, and have the other one install the latest system update on the HD for it, and see if that will help.
