G4.. OSX install trouble

Im trying to install OSX on an old G4 Powermac.

I put the OSX cd in and hold down C. The install menu comes up, and I press next. Then it goes straight too a blue/grey screen with a swooshing timer in the middle at the bottom; and there it stays.

(When I get the installation menu, I only click next on the first option - I don't get to see any t&c or anything else).

Any ideas?
