G4 powerbook rejecting my cd/dvd

I have a G4 power book running 10.4 I had to restart my computer it crashed when I did it would not except my dvd or cd media in the dvd-r

Can anyone help?
Can I reboot?

Let me get this straight, is it not letting you use any disks at all or just one certain disk? How does it reject the media? Does it not let you push it all the way in or does it spit it our after it has been inserted or does it just not recognise inserted media?
