I picked up a lot of 6 various untested g4 processors on ebay. One of them is a quicksilver 733mhz processor card with a weird bodge wire mod. a wire runs from some kind of transistor to 2 surface mount resistors that are tacked onto vias. Not sure if this is some kind of volt mod for overclocking or what. Does anyone know what the bodge wire is for and if it would be safe to test the card. Also in the lot was a quicksilver 933mhz 2mb processor card which is undamaged accept for a snapped off surface mount capacitor on the bottom right below the cache chip. Does anyone know the value of that cap so i can replace it.

It looks pretty well done. Bit late for the era, but bodge jobs like this weren't unheard of on more expensive components, even from the factory. I had an SE/30 that had one right along the bottom of the board.

I'd expect it'll just show up as a basic 733MHz CPU.

Indeed. I agree that its very well done. Either factory work or a very talented hobbyist. But it does seem odd to have a bodge wire on something made in 2002.

I found the missing capacitor for the 933mhz board. Neither the capacitor or the board are damaged so i will just solder it back on when i get a chance.
