Can I put a quicksilver or gigabit cpu into a sawtooth mac? I understand the difference in bus speed will make it slower, but will the machine work with a cpu from a higher up mac

I don't beleive that the processor will work. Certain processors can be swapped between models but only of a similar type. For instance I believe that it's possible to swap the QS 933 and 867 processors since they are the same QS model. However I remember that I tried to swap a 733 processor (from a gigabit machine I believe) with a 933 QS processor once and either the machine did not start up, or the processor did not fit correctly into the socket it was over a year ago while I was working as an apple tech so I don't remember the specifics. Similarly trying to swap single and dual processors does not always work even within the same series.
