After reading this Spymac thread (http://www.spymac.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=24635&postid=354274#post354274) I began to think about a really strange possibility.

If Apple plans on releasing a G3 with Altivec and the PPC 970 from IBM, what would they call the chips? The Spymac thread guy says that the Altivec G3 will be a "G4 Extreme," but I think that'd be a little weird. So, how about Apple calling the new G3 the G5, and the PPC 970 the G6?

Two new chips throughout Apple's entire lineup. Completely earth-shattering.

P.S. I am not saying this is true or anything, or that i even believe the Spymac thread, I am justing putting an idea out there. :)

G6? I think we should wait and see if Apple even considers calling the 970 "G5."

Apple may want to push away from the whole naming screen created by Motorola.
