Hi, I am new to Mac. Just picked up a used G5,1.8 processor,1 gig ram. It is about 4/5 years old Im told. I bought an airport card. If I am close to my linksys wireless router I get internet fine, close being 10-20 feet. If I move further, maybe 50-75 feet, does not pickup router. There is an antenia 'hole" in back of computer.Should I be using an antenia? I have read these should be good to 150'.
Thanks,

Yes. PowerMac G5s shipped with a T-shaped antenna for AirPort and a rod-shaped one for Bluetooth. You may be able to get some via Apple, or off eBay.

You need this:

You do have 2 other options, you can remove the side panel(be sure to leave the clear acrylic panel in!) or you can insert a safety pin into the airport antenna. Either way will get you a good signal of at least 50'. The Safety pin could get your 100'+ and works just as good as the OEM antenna which will cost you $15-$30 depending on where you can find them.
