G5 boot problem with case on

I have a iMac G5 2 ghz 2 gb of ram 2nd generation. I am having the oddest problem and can't figure it out. I recently installed a new hard drive as the old one was failing. The system boots up perfectly. When I put the case back on it refuses to boot. I take the case off and it boots fine. What in the world is the problem????
