I’m having an issue syncing a 3rd gen iPod Touch with a G5 iMac. In Tiger, the iMac charges the iPod, but doesn’t connect with it. In Sorbet Leopard, the iMac will charge it from a depleted battery, until it boots, and then will no longer charge it, or attempt to sync with it.
EveryMac says the minimum version of macOS is 10.4.11 https://everymac.com/systems/apple/ipod/ipod-faq/ipod-minimum-system-requirements.html - so should work with both partitions on my iMac. The cable is fine, I can sync both 3rd and 5th gen classic iPods to with it.
Any ideas? Try a Leopard install?
