I currently have a black macbook 2.4 4 gig of ram and am editing sd video. Besides the fact it cant run half the effect in final cut express it does ok. But my main problem is the time burning the 45 minute video to dvd. I am currently considering buying a 2.5 dual core g5 with 3 gig of ram. Will that machine be much improvment over my macbook especially in the idvd time. It currently takes about 2 hours and 20 minute. Will there be a noticable diffrence

No, the G5 would likely be be slower ( though the video card might make editing faster ) , and you would be stuck running leopard only, and not be able to upgrade Final Cut.

Are you burning your iDVD to an image file first? If you did that you would at least save time when burning a 2nd disc.

Haha man that Xenon would really make things slow. Triple-core PowerPC at 3.2Ghz? I wonder how that'd fare against a G5.
