G5 Powermac and Crucial Ram combo create NOISE?

Greetings all~

Well, I got my new G5 and was or am loving it.

It was far more quiet than I imagined and it ran great.
Worked it like this for about a week or two.

Then the urge for MORE RAM began!

So I called up Crucial and ordered 2 more gigs.
I have never had 3 gigs of Ram in my life, felt like moving to a different country! Kinda < where the women have bigger breasts. Kinda.

But after installing it, I immediatley heard changes in my G5.
Not that it was Horrible or deadly or non functional.

BUT after getting used to the kinda frequencies that my G5 was making and being used to it. This new higher sound wasnt welcome!

Of course describing this higher powersupply noise or what ever it is.
Will merely result in my trying to type words like.

Eeeeeeee, or Breewwwwwwwweeaaaaaa or butttttttttahhhhhhhhaaaaaahh.

So, I will skip that and ask.

Had anyone else had any experience with their G5's changing when they installed more ram.

Does it demand more of the powersupply? or fans because of more heat.?

I dont think its heat because this sound starts immediately.
No time for more heat to be produced, so I am thinking more power from the supply!>?

Sure you didn't knock something out of place when you opened it up - like a cable touching a fan blade or something?

NOPE! there are NO cables to do this to.
The interior of the G5 is ULTRA clean!

It has been well documented that many G5's have had noise problems, particularly with the PSU as well as audible noise picked up in firewire connections with audio interfaces.

Yes, I understand the documented issues.

The point here is that there is NO issue with the RAM out or when it arrived and a few weeks after that.

Hold it. So the RAM has been in for awhile now, "few weeks after that.", and it is only now starting to make noises? I know macs can be sensitive about what RAM is installed, but it worked fine for sometime before this happened?

My G5 only has Crucial RAM in it... it is very quiet. No loud humming or whining at all. It had a buncha firmware issues, but that's another story

I had the G5 without any issues, THEN I installed new ram and a firmware update! and boom extra noise. But it seems to be back to normal AFTER I take out the new ram and revert it to the original shipped unit.

What Firmware issues did you have? keysersoze
