G5 Powermac video card dying...replace with g4's?

The video card (AGP Pro) in my Powermac G5 is fritzing out.
Pretty sure it's the vram.

I was given a video card pulled from a G4 Power mac.

It's pinning matches the same on the G5's card, execept for the tab shown in the picture.

Can the tab be cut off? Anyone know what it might be for on the card, as it doesn't seem to be part of the AGP system.

That "thing" is for the adc.
you have here a chart with compatibility of pc cards between powermacs

I guess you can use this chart to know if your card works..
Although I really doubt it work..

AH! That helps....so, since I don't use a adc monitor, any thoughts on if that tab were to meet with an unfortunate xacto accident?

it may be more complicated than that I think..
At least with non adc pc cards, you have to disable some pins, so for the opposite guess an operation like that must be used too...

Thanks. I'm concidering getting a card off ebay and flashing the rom to mac-a-tize it....or getting a lesser card for more money that's pre mac'd. Or slicing this one and seeing what happens...sigh.

I only gave you an advice on something that I have some experience..but if you know what card is that and found more info,go with it

that card out of the G4 is worth about 10 bucks, if you cut that adc pin off, i might work, but id recon your most proberly going to fry at the least the AGP port on your G5, at worst, the whole G5.

just grab a el cheapo card of ebay and as you said, mac-itize-it..

Or the 6200...I bought mine for 23eur, and only thing I had to do was flashing and pin tapping it..in the g5 you don't even need it..
The curious thing is that I bought my card thinking it was the PV-T44A-WANG that was on the wiki,but it turned out to be a PV-T44D-WANG, and it worked with the same rom, with no mods.
