Hello All,
My g5 iMac has developed a major problem in that I get a black screen when starting up. I've tried the pram reset etc.
The screen is totally black no light at all, haven't tried an additional monitor yet.
Over the past couple of months it has been crashing occasionally, sometimes 3 times a day then it would work fine for a week.
Had been working fine for a while but today upon start up a black screen and nothing else.
Pretty sure it's a 2006-2007 model, old I know but would like to save it.

Any help would be great.
Marc

They discontinued that model in early 2006. Has the Hard Disk Drive ever been replaced? Some of those symptoms are indications of a failing/failed HDD. I'd check that first.

A black screen could be caused by a failed Graphics or Logic board failing or a few other components. Are you able to run the Apple Hardware Test off your original Installation disks? Or boot from the Original Disks?
