Does anyone think that in the future there will be processor upgrades for the Power Mac G5 like there is today for various older Powermacs? Is the Power Mc G5 capable of accepting faster procs?

Yes, If someone is willing to make them long live PPC I may never have to switch to intel

In the future we should see G5 CPU upgrades- 5GHz triple-core ones at that ;)

I sure hope so. I also hope that single cpu processors will still be common in the next couple of years. I would love to be able to upgrade my 1.6ghz G5 Power Mac once before I finally have to switch over to Intel with my next box. I doubt it will be anything special though.

I remember reading about one guy who bought G5 parts off of eBay and built his own. He used a motherboard from a 1.6 gHz G5 and placed a 1.8 gHz processor in it. Because of the different bus speeds between the mb and processor, the system clocked its self back to like 1.3 gHz.
