I had 512mb of stock ram in my quad (Nanya PC2-4200u-444) and added 2x256mb of Hynix (same spec as the Nanya) because it was lying around.

My boyfriend brought some PC2-5300 DDR2 667 home, and popped it in the quad. Thinking I should test the ram to make sure it was fine, he removed the 256mb sticks.

Bootup was fine, but the new chips show (in profiler) as PC2-3200U-288 under the speed heading. Is this right for DDR2 667 ?

Can anyone explain the speed differences? Should the chips be removed? Can the other chips be put back in alongside the different speed chips?

Please help, guys
