Question for all.

Will a PowerMac G5 Quad take PC2-5300 or PC2-6400 2GB DIMM as opposed to what is recommended by Apple?

Thanks!

Hmm, no idea as I don't own one but as you work at a recycler, why not see if your boss would let you take a matched set and test it out? I can tell you that my DC is running matched pairs of PC2-4200U-444 & PC2-3200U-288 just fine.

I have a 2005 G5 dualcore and I stuffed it with 16GB worth of RAM from an electronics dump, it's perfectly fine. However, for best performance one should use DDR2-533 (PC2-4200), if you use any other freq, it will halve it (e.g. 667 ended up running at 333) or in worst case not recognize it at all. You should also install properly matched pairs.

Thanks to all for replying! Great info there which saves me the trouble of testing..
