I just read this thread at News.com about the HyperTransport consortium announcing version 2.0 of HyperTransport next week.

While reading it a light went on. Could this be what Apple has been waiting for? Have they implemented the new HyperTransport and couldn't release it until the announcement was officially made?

I know this is highly unlikely and bordering on conspiracy theory but the thought is fun to ponder. It is way more likely they are still dumping old stock prior to a new release.

Hmm... You think HT 2.0 would be implemented in the "new" G5's already?
Could be, would be gr8!

Also the mention of PCI Express. It could be that Apple could use this standard instead of AGP (8x). OK. AGP 4x is hardly stretched, but figures do sell.
