(shoot, sorry, thought this was an iPhone DEV forum. Mods, do whatever you want with this.)

Hi,

We have a game app to which we want to add Game Center functionality. However, we also want to set up either a free lite version or convert the app to freemium (it's currently paid though only $1) to spur downloads which will hopefully encourage more sales, or at the very least put our apps in the hands of more people.

Adding a lite version fixes the problems of freemium (see next paragraph) but it is undesirable because it would lead to having to have two leaderboards and sets of achievements, not to mention it intuitively seems less likely than with freemium that the user will take the required time to upgrade.

The freemium is undesirable because although it's a quick process and it would allow there to only have to be one leaderboard/set of acheivements, and users could keep their scores, settings, etc. when they upgrade, we already have some paid users and so they would likely have to pay again. In addition, reviewers would have to pay to get the full app because there's no "promo code" for an IAP.

So is there any way to "combine" GC leaderboards/achievements between lite and paid versions? Or some way to get around the problems of freemium mentioned above? What is a developer to do...?

Any advice at all would be helpful!

Thanks!!!
