iPod touch Game Center Game Request not Working

Hi. I recently got an iPod touch (4G) and set up Game Center. I later downloaded Fruit Ninja and tried to play it online through Game Center with my sister that also has an iPod touch.
For some reason the request wouldn't go through. The other iPod would not get the request. Why is this? Could it possibly be that we are using the same internet connection?
