Game controller for five year old?

Hi,
I've just pulled the trigger on the new Apple TV ( 128 Gb ) I've been doing a fair bit of searching but I'm a bit confused about the games that are available for children. I have a five year old granddaughter, she plays a few simple games on my iPad. I see there is a whole section of games for kids but I'm not sure about what controller would be needed. I've read that the new remote doesn't have the necessary hardware as the original remote. I'mlooking for advice on what would be a suitable controller for small hands. I'm in the UK if that makes any difference. Apologies if I've misunderstood the game playing process, I'm new to all this.
