The poster of those videos works for YoYo and that version is not released for mac. Sorry...

I have never used this type of software, so I don't know what you're looking for...all I know is that this one IS Mac compatible.

Sorry to tell you this, but YoYoGames GameMaker for Mac is under Private Beta, so it will be available in a few months.
You will have to use another piece of software to complete your school assignment.
