Gamepad Companion Controller help..

I bought the $7.99 app from the app store "gamepad companion controller" app to play games on my laptop with my xbox controllers but it's not reading it. i plugged the usb wired to my usb hub. Yet it's not reading it, any idea?

xbox needs drivers

on carvware's support page it says xbox is the only controller that needs additional drivers.
