Hi there, I've recently bought my first Mac (MBA 2013, i5, 4GB, 256GB, 10.8.4) and I've set up the wired Xbox 360 controller using v0.12 of the unofficial driver. It works fine with all of my games that support it, such as Bioshock (from the MAS), Limbo and Bit.Trip Runner.
I signed up for Steam yesterday and bought some Source games (The Orange Box and Left 4 Dead 2). However, my gamepad doesn't play well with these games. When playing any of the games, certain buttons on the controller will be active when it is disabled, but the main problem I'm having is that all of these Steam games have confused the analog sticks confused with the start/back button (right and left stick respectively). Moving and looking works fine, but pressing the analog button (for example, to crouch or scope) will instead pause the game and pressing the start button will make my character crouch. Even when I disable the gamepad controls for the games, these start/back and analog clicks are still recognised by the game. When trying to reassign the controls in the settings, it recognises them incorrectly still: pressing stick one shows as start, pressing stick two shows as back (and vice versa.)
Games are still playable, but it can be quite awkward. I have tried loading the xbox 360 controller config files (as instructed here) and I've tried 0.10 and 0.11 of the driver, but neither have made any difference. This issue went away when I uninstalled the driver, but (obviously) controller compatibility went away too! The fact this still happens even when the gamepad isn't enabled via the options has me really confused. I should note that all of the buttons report fine to my other games and the preference pane for managing the controller. Is this an issue with the driver or with source?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I wasn't expecting to go on so much!
