Hi,

Do all the best mac games require an internet connection? I'd like to run a good strategy game but see that, for example, starcraft 2 require internet (save in a guest mode where progress is lost).

Steam Games can allow offline mode, but you have to enable it when connected online. Not sure about SC2

Civ5 is awesome for strategy... works fine offline in steam offline mode.

Online is the trend. If it's not a multiplayer game (eg. SC2) you tend to need it for the DRM. Many if not exactly all newer games expect connectivity.

I will be without my fibreoptic internet soon (nooooo!). So I plan on using tethering to the iPhone. It should be good enough at least for the DRM stuff. And I have read people able to do battlenet sc2 gaming via iPhone tether. I hope that works!
