gaming from external 5400 drive?

hi quick question....

ive been using bootcamp partition for the OS and external 7200 drive for the game installs....i cant remember if its usb2 or fw connection now but anyway gaming works fine no speed problem i can see

im thinking of buying a cheap 5400 drive for same use but is 5400 too slow for gaming?? or no problem??
