Gaming on a 3.4Ghz iMac with 6970m

I am thinking of picking up a refurbed iMac in the Apple Store.

3.4Ghz i7 with a 1GB 6970m for £1500 or so.

Can anyone else with this spec give me an idea of how it performs with games?

I have that one and play Diablo in full hd with decent settings in OS X. It performs well with that game. I have also tried CS Source and that plays well. You will have to tweak the settings some if you want to play in native resolution. Lower shadows and such to get the frame rate up.

I would look at benchmarks if gaming is important. The future iMac will Have a better gpu though, probably the same as the new MacBook pro, gt 650m.

I am pretty sure the 650m performs worse than the 6970m.

If you are willing to wait patiently until Mountain Lion releases in July, you can play any game on max settings without a hitch on a AMD 7970m or GTX 680m, whatever Apple chooses.

My iMac is in my signature, I can run dual clients on EvE Online, and Crysis 2 on Ultra DX11 ( on a few others on extreme high ) without any noticeable latency.

NFS Hot Pursuit and The Run
Civ 5
Half Life 2
Wow

At native res the 6970 is quite a capable little mobile gpu.
