Sitting here bored at work thinking about getting a game (never gamed on a laptop. EVER) cod4 looks pretty sweet and is cheap, but black ops has me tempted too. Is battlefield ever gonna get a port or what?

Just downloaded galaxy on fire. I didn't buy my mac for gaming, but this is pretty fun to do casually. Might even get doom 3. For $10 why not? Tell me what you guys think and share your experience to a gaming noob like me.

I cant comment on gaming on a Retina MBP, but I can comment on a 2010 model, all those games work well on high settings :) All I can say is wow, the graphics are amazing :) I even play Need for Speed World :)

I just decided i want to buy a 13inch MacbookPro Retina. From what I've seen on YouTube videos at medium to low graphics settings COD4 and Blackops play rather well.

These are OLD games. They will even be playable on integrated graphics, as long as you don't expect getting 60fps.

The retina MBP can play any current game at 1680x1050 with medium/high settings at 30+ fps. I play Guild Wars 2 at high settings 1920x1200, averaging around 45 fps.

I wouldn't play a demanding game in OS X though - Apple's graphics driver suck big time for gaming.

I've been playing Path of Exile in OSX using a winewrapper on 2048x1280 with High textures and variance shadow mapping, in windowed mode getting between 45-70fps in areas.

This is on the 15" rMBP. I get better FPS playing in fullscreen mode, but the steam overlay doesn't work too well in it, in that I can't actually write back to friends so I just play windowed.

Borderlands 2 is also great at 1920x1200 with high textures, shadows and x8 AF. I haven't really bothered with Depth of Field or Motion blur since that always annoys me. No AA though as I've not really noticed enough of a difference to justify the performance hit.

i play BlackOps on my rMBP and it plays great, You have to have a mouse keep that in mind.

i play cod modern warfare on my rmbp, played great on high settings. Machine obviously produced more heat though.
