In the middle of showing a friend the marvels of Garage Band, the loops buttons grayed out and were no longer useable. The reset button was the lone 'darkened' button but clicking on it did nothing. For previously composed songs, the loops are still active and accessible but on anything new they just aren't there. As this happened in the middle of my demo (the loops worked for a time), I wonder if I offed them through a keyboard command by mistake? I've scrolled through the pull-down menus but see no kind of 'activate loops' command.

Any ideas?????

This is my exact problem, I cant use any of the pre-installed loops, they are all grayed out.

Any ideas anyone?

Put the Restore DVD in.
Click one of the grayed out loops in GarageBand.
Choose 'Install from DVD'.
