garageband 3rd party loops

Can anybody tell me why some loops, as in guitar loops from
other sources than apple, why can't i transpose them.
I can with Apples loops, but i bought some 3rd party loops
that will play in garageband, but can't transpose them

Can you give a bit more info? Where did you purchase them? What format were they in originally?

They came from Platinumloops.com
in the aiff format, but when you open them to hear a sample, they open in
Quicktime.
