Garageband 4.1.1

I upgraded to garage band 4.1.1 to make custom ringtones for my iPhone. I made 10 or so without the slightest problem. When I come back a little bit later, Garageband is running so choopy and laggy its not even funny. Cant even select an mp3 without tons of lag, let along edit a song or select a loop for a ringtones. Even waving over file takes 10 seconds for it to register that it's there. When i quit garageband everything else runs perfectly and without a problem. does anyone know what I can do to fix this or has anyone else had this problem? Thanks In advance!
