Garageband and Keyboards

well i got a turtle beach midi cable that hooks up my yamaha keyboard to my ibook and when i open garageband 2.0 up, nothing happens. it says midi device detected and when i check the audio midi setup.app program in utilities, it is recognized. however, when i hit record in garageband, nothing happens. am i doing something wrong?

I was having some teouble hooking a Roland Rd-700 up to a Mac...
Turns out the midi cable needed a driver. Try going to Turtle Beach site and downloading something.

Well just to rule out the obvious, you are trying to record on a software instrument track (green) and not a real instrument track, right?

fixed it. turns out the cables were mixed up.
