Garageband: Can I remove the vocal?

I need some help here. I have Garageband 08. I want a remove the vocals from a music and create an instrumental. Can I do this in Garageband? If not what software do you guys recommend?

If anyone is wondering, I'm trying to create a ringtone with just instrumentals.

I don't know of any software that can isolate and remove a certain track once they have been mixed down.

It can't be done, you'll be left with holes in the music

Your best bet is to contact the artist and ask them if you could get the track split up into it's various parts so that you could do some work on it etc.


If you ask nicely enough they might let you. Just reassure them that you're not going to use it for any commercial purposes
