Am I able to plug straight into my macbook pro to record with my bass? Via maybe a converter for my guitar cable? If so what is the quality like, any certain preferences I must set to do this through garageband?
Thanks in advance.

I actually just bought a LightSnake Guitar Cable. Its basically USB to a 1/4 inch jack (IE Guitar/bass cable). I got it at target for 40 bucks. Pretty much you just plug the usb into your mac and there is a jack at the end of the cable for your bass. Garagband recognizes it immediatly and it works great!! Quality is full CD quality and sounds really good. I highly reccomend it. Its awesome using the built in loops and then playing over them to make your own songs. Here is a link to that cable! Good Luck!!

I believe I have found a cheaper way to go... just getting a converter that goes from 1/4" to 1/8". Don't know how reliable it is though...
