garageband/firebox - trouble monitoring recording

I just got a presonus firebox. I have all of the system preferences set so that the input and output sound is coming from the firebox. I also changed the preferences in garageband to use the firebox for input and output sound. I can hear the playback in the headphones plugged in to the firebox, but I cannot monitor the sound while I'm recording... any suggestions on how I can fix this?

I'm having the EXACT same problem. I've searched the threads to no avail. Looked online, YouTube, everywhere with no luck. Anyone throw us newbies a bone and help us out here??
