Hi all
I am just looking for a bit of advice...
I am trying to edit music/video tracks for a performance, and I am currently taking the following steps to ensure the quality of the end product is good enough through a PA system (as PA usually sounds very different to a home system).
1. Using iTunes to import .WAV files from the CD's to ensure I have a lossless quality. (Settings 48.000 KHz, 16-bit, stereo).
2. Importing these tracks into Garageband to mix/edit then exporting in AIFF format (another lossless format), done by clicking Share>Export Song To Disk>Unchecking The Compress Checkbox.
3. Importing the track then into iMovie to add some video for a projector which is going to have video background with music when performing, then exporting this by clicking Share>Export Movie>Large. Creating an m4v video file.
Would the above steps create a great sounding and visual video file?
Also I have a couple of questions about things I have noticed when using this method...
Firstly, when I export out of GB I find that when that same exported track is then imported into iMovie the volume meters go into the yellow/red again even though I reduced the volume in GB and also added normalisation (with the track not going into the yellow/red), is this normal, and should I just be ignoring the yellow/red 'clipping/distortion' meters?
Secondly, when I export out of Garageband and uncheck the compress box, it still exports as AIFF-C which is a compressed format.... is this normal also?
Any help would be appreciated, and please don't recommend using better mixing methods as we are on a limited budget as it is for a charity event.
Thanks
James
