Garageband plays loud, but not after exporting

I recorded a song in Garageband. When I have Garageband open with headphones on, the computer volume is at 2 and it's almost too loud! When I export the song to iTunes, I have to have the computer volume on 10 to get the same effect. I have the master volume all the way up on Garageband. Is there any way around this?? It sounds phenomenal through Garageband but you can barely hear it through any other application. I plugged the computer into my stereo, turned the computer all the way up, and the stereo waaaay up and its very quiet still.
