Garageband Voice Recording

When I record a section of voice & stop, i cannot continue. When I locate the curser at the end of the previous recording & select record it starts at the beginning.
What I'm doing is to reduce the 1st recoding to the minimum needed, then do the same for the other recordings. This is necessary when using GB as the audio in animation and reduce the animation time.
 
Wouldn't you record all the audio tracks separate then drag them here you need them?
