Recently, GarageBand doesn't show waveforms when I record. This happens when I record directly from a mic, or indirectly through the computer's sound (via Soundflower).

I'm certainly an experienced user, having clocked over 100 hours of podcast episodes, so I'll be a monkey's uncle if I somehow turned off a simple setting or something similarly silly.

Any help would be very appreciated--and I'd be happy to give you a shootout on both of the podcasts I produce!

Moderate update: reinstalling hasn't helped completely, though now I am getting waveforms when recording with a mic. They still are not appearing when recording internal sounds (clip played to Soundflower, then GarageBand recording from the SoundFlower input).
